Thirty teams and well over 1,000 people in all, including friends, family and supporters, will take part in this weekend’s Isaac Jaramillo Memorial Softball Tournament at the Municipal Recreation Complex in south Santa Fe.

Team registration for the event closed Wednesday with 30 teams signing up, according to one of the event organizers, Edwin Quintana.

Jaramillo, 33, an employee of First National Bank of Santa Fe, was engaged and awaiting the birth of his second child when he died of a heart attack on Jan. 26. His daughter, Aubrey, was born the day after his death. He also has a son, Jordan.

All proceeds from the two-day event Saturday and Sunday go to the Isaac Jaramillo Fund, set up for his family. Quintana said proceeds from the tournament entry fees, food and T-shirt sales will all go toward the fund.

Santa Fe musician Tony C’ de Baca will be performing throughout the tournament.
