I told the family of Daniel and Samuel Pauly I would pass this information along…
The family of Sam and Daniel Pauly is holding a fundraiser dinner and silent auction Tuesday (Jan. 31) from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Plaza Cafe Southside, 3466 Zafarano Drive in the Salsidro Plaza.
Sam Pauly was shot and killed by a New Mexico State Police Officer on Oct. 5 in his Glorieta home. Police say they were looking for Daniel Pauly after a road rage call made involving him on Interstate 25 earlier in the evening (there are conflicting reports about who was responsible for the erratic driving that prompted the road rage call to police dispatchers).
Police say they heard a gun shot from the Pauly home and saw Sam standing in a wind with a gun in his hand so they shot him. Dan Pauly has said he and his brother didn’t know who was outside their home and were warning them to get off their property, unbeknownst they were police officers.
Dan Pauly, who has been charged with aggravated assault on a peace officer and resisting arrest, has yet to have his case presented to a Santa Fe County Grand Jury and he has not returned to regular working hours at the restaurant he and his brother worked at together, according to a sister.
As such, expenses our mounting — both legal expenses and living expenses.
According to a flyer of the fundraiser put together by the family, 20 percent of the meal tickets and 100 percent of the silent auction proceeds will go to Daniel Pauley.
The criminal case against Daniel Pauly and the presentment to a Santa Fe County Grand Jury about the handling of the case by the New Mexico State Police Officers have yet to be resolved.
