Check that Halloween candy! (especially those Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups)

Here is a quick blurb sent out this morning by Santa Fe Police Department Lt. Louis Carlos with a photo:

Parent reported child was given a chocolate peanut butter cup with razor blade inside. Check candy!

Here is updated info compiled by colleague Julie Ann Grimm:

  • The candy was found by a teenage boy
  • His dad thought enough of the report to file a formal police report
  • Lt. Louis Carlos said: “It was real enough for the dad to file a police report, so we have to take what the citizens say at face value and run with it. Unfortunately, the suspect pool is rather large. The best way of dealing with this is to put it out to the community and makes sure that the parents check all candies or whatever treats they received last night.”
  • It was found in the San Patricio neighborhood south of Ragel Park, which is at the intersection of Zia Road and Yucca Street.
