From the obituary posted on the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory website (they always do a great job with posting obits and guestbooks for family and friends) on Lloyd, Dixie and Steven Ortiz, the family found killed in their El Rancho home on Sunday night:
Lloyd was a prominent businessman throughout many parts of the country. He was a successful tile contractor, much of his beautiful work can be found in Northern New Mexico. Dixie was Activities Director at Sombrillo Nursing & Rehabilitation in Los Alamos, and that was her passion, working with the elderly and disabled. Steven was a self taught drummer. He had a passion for 4-wheeling, fishing and restoring cars with his dad. Lloyd, Dixie and Steven are much loved & will be dearly missed.
As you might expect, the community outpouring for the beloved family in the El Rancho community has already started to pour in on the Guestbook set up in their honor.
In Friday’s New Mexican, there is an article that sheds a little more light on how the family may have been killed and why New Mexico State Police may have been so off in initial reports that the three had been shot.
Here is Friday’s article as well as links to the Ortiz family obituary and a guest book link for friends, family and others to leave a comment in the family’s memory:
