Veteran prosecutor Wayne Jordan, a longtime Southern New Mexico assistant district attorney, collapsed in a courtroom and died Tuesday in Alamogordo.

From the Alamogordo Daily News article:

Twelfth Judicial District senior trial prosecutor Wayne A. Jordon collapsed and died around 9:40 a.m. Tuesday in Judge Jerry H. Ritter Jr.’s courtroom. Jordon’s sudden passing happened during a motion to determine counsel hearing for a defendant.

Jordon started working for the 12th Judicial District Attorney’s Office as a senior trial prosecutor in 2007.

Also from the Daily News article is a quote from Gov. Susana Martinez, a longtime prosecutor in Las Cruces, an hour southwest on N.M. 70 from Alamogordo:

“I knew Wayne (Jordon) and certainly knew (his wife) Sandy Grisham as well as. Our prayers go out to them both and certainly for the loss of Wayne. You figure you’re in the courtroom every day and never expect something so terrible would happen. He was a great lawyer. I am so sorry.” — Gov. Susana Martinez in The Alamogordo Daily News

I will always remember Wayne Jordan. His wise counsel was invaluable. I liked the courteous and helpful way he started his sessions with, “OK, What are we doing?”
