Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s investigators are following up leads on a double homicide discovered Sunday afternoon in Truchas.
A spokesman for Sheriff Tommy Rodella said two people — 31-year-old Delfino DeFernandez of Truchas and 24-year-old Amanda Romero of Cordova — were shot and killed sometime before Sunday afternoon when a relative of the female discovered the two bodies at different locations around the same residence.
Police are being careful not to reveal much detail about the type of gun used, how many time each were shot or where exactly the bodies were discovered other than to say they were at different locations at the same address and a murder-suicide scenario is not being investigated.
“We have persons of interest we are hoping to get in contact with,” Jake Arnold, sheriff’s department spokesman, said. “We know the two knew each other well, but anything beyond that about their relationship or about possible motives or suspects, well it’s just too early to speculate publicly about all that at this point.”
Sgt. Orlando Cordova is case officer heading the investigation and police ask anyone with information to call the sheriff’s office in Española at 753-3320.
