Jack devoted most of his life to police work. Wednesday in Santa Fe, the retired state police canine died at the age of 14 1/2.

The animal was retired from New Mexico State Police K-9 duty in 2007 and was living with his former law-enforcement partner and handler, Lt. Rudy Mora, at the time of his death.
