The second of two bodies found burned in a car parked at a rest stop north of Española last week has been identified.
The Office of the Medical Investigator in Albuquerque has confirmed Sarah Salazar, 27, of Española was in a 2000 Honda Accord that was set on fire early Feb. 28 on U.S. 285 between Ojo Caliente and Española.
On Friday, New Mexico State Police Lt. Eric Garcia confirmed the other body in the vehicle was that of 25-year-old Joey Maestas of Hernandez.
Police say both were killed before the car was set on fire, but have not said if they have determined how.
Nobody has been charged in connection with the case and the state police Criminal Investigations Bureau continues to follow leads on the double-homicide investigation, according to Garcia.
People with information on the case are asked to call police in Española at 753-2277
