Española fugitive who escaped from HS student/jail guard turns himself in

Allen Pacheco, the 24-year-old inmate who elbowed a young female jail guard last Sunday in Española and evaded police for nearly a week turned himself into authorities on Friday.

From New Mexico State Police Lt. Eric Garcia:

The escapee from Espanola Police Department (Allen Pacheco) turned himself into the State Police Office in Española Just after 4:30 p.p. (Friday).  He was arrested and will be facing misdemeanor and felony charges.  He will be booked into the TA Detention Facility.

Pacheco was getting a welfare check at the Española hospital and the guard assigned to take him was Santana Bustamonte, a senior at Española Valley High School who whould not have had the job of jail guard as the minimum requirements include either a high school diploma or GED.
