Steve Terrell earlier this morning posted on his blog news that State Auditor Hector Balderas will oversee a special audit of the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Department and the county’s internal financial control process.
Balderas said he is doing so after the county asked for his assistance in the audit.
From Balderas’ statement:
“The alleged activity publicly disclosed by former Sheriff Solano is very troubling. My top priority is to assess the total loss of taxpayer dollars and prevent any further losses.”
