This from a news release just sent out by New Mexico State Police Sgt. Tim Johnson:
The New Mexico State Police arrested Mr. Daniel Barde (33), an off-duty State Police officer, yesterday for Aggravated DWI and Open Container. The traffic stop and subsequent arrest was made on northbound I-25 near milepost 190 in Valencia County.
The initial call regarding this incident was received by New Mexico State Police dispatch through the Drunk Busters Hotline (# DWI) at approximately 5:01 PM. The traffic stop was made at approximately 5:07 PM.
The arresting officer observed Mr. Barde to have blood shot, watery eyes and could smell the odor of alcohol emitting from Barde’s breath. After performing poorly on the standardized field sobriety tests Mr. Barde was placed under arrest and eventually booked into the Valencia County Adult Detention Center. Mr. Barde was later released on his own recognizance with Magistrate Judge Tina Gallegos’ approval.
Mr. Barde was off-duty and driving a personally owned vehicle. Mr. Barde has since been placed on administrate leave with pay until an internal investigation can be completed.
